The project was durng my gap year in Denmark, The challenge is to remodel an abandoned factury into an open office for our own architecture office COBE. I was in charge of concept design of the possibilities for space transformation. Through rounds of concept generation and iterations, we finally got the concept polished and passed on to next stage for design development. I very much like the procedure of interior design and space generation.

How to transform a factory into offices?

Three options are explored in the process to deal with transforming large space into separated smaller offices with multi-functional spaces within current structual guides.

Option 1: Big volume added in the center of the space to create double height area and collective private space inside for storage and model room.

Option 2: Double height volumes are separated around the office randomly for separated meeting rooms on top and storage/model room underneath.

Option 3: Double height volumes grid in the office for separated meeting rooms on top and storage/model room underneath.

Option 3 was finally get chosen and futher iterated into the proposal with more detailed area division and function description.

Prototype

Renderings from different perspectives of this option was rendered to see the actual spatial arrangement and feelings of the office. Details like skylight and railings are also explored with different ideas to see the final effective.
